Transitions

Yesterday Dick bought a piece of Welder’s glass to place over his telescope so we could watch the 7 hour transit of Venus between the earth and the sun.  It was a spectacular viewing and a great opportunity since this will not occur again until the year 2117!

June 6

So with the transit of Venus, I begin thinking of the transitions in my life.  After leaving Santa Barbara on May 13, I sleep in 3 different beds, drive 3 different vehicles, take endless hikes around the Deschutes River, see 3 of my children, 4 of my grandchildren, let my hair grow, attend a variety of classes at the Senior Center including line dancing, weight training, stand tall, don’t fall and Tai Chi.  Attended an  historic walking tour of of downtown Bend with Rafael’s 3rd grade class, which included a museum. I will have attended 2 birthday parties, 3 graduations (one elementary school, one high school, one college; where Michelle Obama will be the guest speaker.

I am getting use to a different life style and adapting to it accordingly without too much difficulty.  If I have to voice one complaint, it would be the weather; too cold for me.  This is what they say about the climate here.  “Wait 5 minutes and it will change”  The rest of the week the temperatures will be in the low 50’s; Monday, 73.  Go figure.

Lovingly, Joyce

Mazel tov on all the graduations. That you could be there is very special. We are going to Shane’s H.S. graduation tomorrow at SB H.S. Miss you. Elaine
